Gossip Girl opens a new January week with the long-awaited reading of the will from Bart Bass. We will find out that he left Bass Industries to Chuck. That includes 51 per cent of the shares and the control of the business. Jack Bass is very angry. He gives up the plan that he would take control of the company.
Chuck was surprised to hear this of course. He didn't want this responsibility at first but Blair talks him into becoming the CEO. Chuck is finally in at least for the moment.
Chuck can get away with uncle Jack who tried to tempt him with drugs and girls to celebrate. He also cancels celebratory dinner with Blair. They however, have brunch with the board of Bass Industries together the next morning.
Blair seems to follow the plan of Jack. She walked in on Chuck for the drugs and prostitutes scheme which is organized by Jack.
Jack planned this in order to kick out Chuck if he acts inappropriately with what he had prepared for. But Chuck did not fall for this.
When things cool down, Chuck lashed out at Blair for planning it in the first place and trying to act like "the wife."
He later on find out that he was about to lose everything so he apologizes to Blair, but she does not accept it.
She tells him that he’s the only one who didn’t believe in himself, and that she can't watch him self-destruct any longer.
So Blair rejects Chuck and he becomes a miserable heartbroken guy.
